You can see the Exynos Series 7 comparison elsewhere on this website. This is a comparison between the Exynos series 9 processors from Samsung. You can also click on the name and see more details on each CPU which is also covered in much greater detail on this website. This is the latest processors from Samsung which uses smaller circuits and higher clocks CPU and GPU’s.
Exynos Series 9 Processors comparison
You will note that the latest CPU combination is very powerful compared to the Exynos Series 7 processors as well as the Exynos Series 8 processor. You will note that there is only one octa core processor in this the Series 8 processor range.
You will note that the Exynos 9 Series (9810) as well as the Exynos 9 Series (8895) both use the 10nm FinFET process which was upped to an even smaller process in the last Series 9 processor being the Exynos 9 Series (9820) has a 8nm LPP FinFET process.
The primary CPU was also slowly upgraded in each step from a Custom CPU 2.3GHz Quad to a Custom CPU 2.9GHz Quad and then to a custom CPU. The secondary CPU’s also moved from a Cortex-A53 1.7GHz Quad to a Cortex-A55 1.9GHz Quad to the Cortex-A75 Dual+Cortex-A55 Quad in the last and latest CPU combo in the Exynos 9 Series (9820).
Note that the GPU’s had also changed. The lower specs started with a Mali-G71 MP20 which was upgraded to a Mali-G72 MP18 and finally to a Mali-G76 MP12 in the latest chip setup. You can compare their abilities based on the video frame rates which are shown on the comparison table below:
GPU Comparison | |
Mali-G71 MP20 – Exynos 9 Series (8895) | 4K UHD 120fps |
Mali-G72 MP18 – Exynos 9 Series (9810) | 4K UHD 120fps |
Mali-G76 MP12 – Exynos 9 Series (9820) | 8K 30fps and 4K UHD 150fps |
The codecs used on all there processors are using HEVC (H.265), H.264, VP9 which is used to record and playback video. You will note that the communications are also upped at each stage of the development and we can see the download and upload speed when we compare the 3 together as follows:
LTE Modem Exynos 9 Series | ||
Exynos 9 Series (9820) | Cat.20 8CA Cat.20 3CA | 2Gbps (DL) 316Mbps (UL) |
---|---|---|
Exynos 9 Series (9810) | Cat.18 6CA Cat.18 2CA | 1.2Gbps (DL) 200Mbps (UL) |
Exynos 9 Series (8895) | Cat.16 5CA Cat.13 2CA | 1Gbps (DL) 150Mbps (UL) |
It can be seen that with each upgrade in the Series 9 processors that the LTE modem speeds had improved as well as the GPU. Click on each link to see more information on each chipset.
