Touch Screen Tips

Here are some tips on how to navigate your phone:

  • Tap: A single tap selects items, links, shortcuts, and letters on the virtual keyboard.
  • Tap and Hold: Touch and hold an item on the screen, keeping your finger on it until an action occurs. For example, to open the available options for a contact, tap and hold the contact in the contacts list until the menu content is displayed.
  • Drag: Touch and hold an item for a moment and then, without lifting your finger, move your finger on the screen until you reach the desired position. You can drag items on the home screen to rearrange them.
  • Swipe: To swipe, quickly move your finger across the screen without stopping when you touch it (so you don’t drag an item). For example, you can swipe up or down to scroll through a list or navigate through different home screens by swiping left to right (and vice versa).
  • Double Tap: Double-tap to zoom in on a web page or map. For example, quickly double-tap on a section of a page to fit it to the width of the screen.
  • Pinch to Zoom: Use your index finger and thumb in a pinching or spreading motion to zoom in or out when using the browser, Maps, or browsing through images.
  • Rotate the Screen: In apps and menus, the screen orientation adjusts to the physical orientation of the device.

Using Dual SIM

When two SIM cards are inserted into your phone, the information from these cards is displayed in the status bar. When you tap the key to switch between SIM cards, the device activates the selected SIM.

NOTE: If only one SIM card is inserted into the device, or one of the SIM cards is disabled, switching between SIM cards using the shortcut key is not possible. During a call, sending a message, or data transmission, the indication of the disabled SIM may be displayed as “No Service” due to the SIM’s state and its access to the network.

With Wi-Fi, you can use high-speed internet access within the coverage of a wireless access point (AP). You can enjoy wireless internet with Wi-Fi without any additional charges.

Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks

To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need to access a wireless access point. Some access points are open, and you can simply connect to them. Others are hidden or use security features, and you need to configure your phone to connect to them. When not using Wi-Fi, disable it to extend battery life.

Enabling Wi-Fi and Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks

Enabling Bluetooth and Connecting Your Phone to Another Bluetooth Device

You must pair your device with another device before connecting it.

  1. Tap on > > Applications tab > Settings/Adjust > Networks tab > turn on Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the Bluetooth menu again. You will see an option to make the device visible and an option for device types, then tap Search for devices to view devices in the Bluetooth area.
  3. From the list, choose the device you want to pair. After the connection is successful, the phone will connect to the device.

NOTE: Some devices, especially headphones or car hands-free kits, may have a fixed Bluetooth PIN, such as 0000. If the other device has a PIN, you must enter it.

Sending Data Using Bluetooth

  1. Select a file or item, such as a contact, calendar event, or multimedia file, from the appropriate app or Downloads.
  2. Select an option to send data via Bluetooth.

NOTE: The method to select an option may vary depending on the type of data.

 

Receiving Data Using Bluetooth

  1. Tap on > > Applications tab > Settings/Adjust > Networks tab > turn on Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the Bluetooth menu again, then tap the option to make it visible to other devices.

Sharing Your Phone’s Data Connection

USB Tethering and Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot are great features when no wireless connections are available. You can share your phone’s mobile data connection with a single computer via a USB cable (USB tethering). You can also share your phone’s data connection with more than one device simultaneously, turning your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot. When the phone is sharing its data connection, an icon will appear in the status bar, and a notification will be displayed in the notification panel.

To Change Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings:

  1. Tap on > > Applications tab > Settings/Adjust > Networks tab > Connections and Networks > Wi-Fi hotspot and turn it on.
  2. Enter the password and tap Save.

 

Rename or Secure Your Portable Hotspot:

You can change the name of your Wi-Fi network on the phone (SSID) and the security of the Wi-Fi network.

  1. Tap on > > Applications tab > Settings/Adjust > Networks tab > Connections and Networks > Wi-Fi hotspot.
  2. Tap Configure Wi-Fi hotspot.
    • The Configure Wi-Fi hotspot dialog will appear on the screen.
    • You can change the network SSID (name) that computers will see when searching for Wi-Fi networks.
    • You can also tap the Security menu to configure the network with Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) security, using a pre-shared key (PSK).
    • If you tap the WPA2 PSK security option, a password field will be added to the Wi-Fi hotspot configuration dialog. If you enter a password, you will need to enter this password when connecting to the phone’s hotspot with a computer or another device. You can also choose Open in the Security menu to remove security from your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Tap Save.

Transferring Music, Photos, and Videos using Multimedia Sync (MTP)

  1. Connect the phone to the PC using the USB cable.
  2. If you haven’t installed the LG Android platform driver on your PC, you’ll need to change the settings manually. On the home screen, press the Menu key, choose System settings > General tab > PC connection > USB connection type, then select Multimedia sync (MTP).

Making a Second Call

  1. During your initial call, tap Menu > Add call and dial the number. You can also view a list of recently dialed numbers by tapping, or you can search your contacts by tapping and selecting the number you want to call.
  2. Tap to make the call.
  3. Both calls will be displayed on the screen. Your initial call will be put on hold.
  4. Tap the displayed number to switch between calls. Or, tap Merge calls to make a conference call.
  5. To end the active call, tap End or press the Home key, swipe down the status bar, and select the End icon.

Note: You will be charged for each call made.

 

Viewing Your Call Log

On the home screen, tap and choose the Records tab.

From here, you can view the complete list of calls made, received, and missed.

Tip: Tap the record of any call to see the time and duration of the call. Tap the Menu key, then tap Delete all to delete all items.

 

Software Update for LG Phone Over the Air (FOTA)
