MyTouch Phone User Manual
The T-Mobile My Touch is also known as the LG Maxx Touch. The mobile phone came to market in 2011 and had a good following in terms of sales. It comes with GPRS and EDGE and also 2G and 3G network coverage. The phone also came with an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and runs on the Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset and a 1 GHz Scorpion processor. Its still very good even by today’s standard. There is also the well known Adreno 205 GPU in the phone. With 2GB of internal memory and a 2GB external card included you can assume that the camera must be good as well. There are 2 cameras on the phone. The main camera on the My Touch is a 5 MegaPixel, 2560 x 1920 pixels camera with autofocus. The video is also very good running at 720p@30fps. With 300 hours of standby time and 4 hours of talk time it makes for a good phone even today. Using the Phone’s Storage Card as a USB Drive
To facilitate the transfer of music, photos, and other files from your computer to your phone’s storage card, it’s necessary to configure the phone’s storage card as a USB drive. Here’s how you can do it:
Setting the Phone’s Storage Card as a USB Drive
- Initiate by connecting the phone to the computer using the USB cable. You’ll notice a notification icon appearing in the status bar.
- Subsequently, access the Notifications Panel. For guidance on how to open the Notifications Panel.
- Within the Notifications Panel, select ‘USB connected’ and then choose ‘Mount’.
Please note, upon selecting ‘Mount’, the phone will not detect the storage card when connected to a computer, and some applications such as the Camera will be inaccessible. To enable the phone to detect the storage card when connected to a computer, you’ll need to disable USB storage. The following procedure explains how to do this. Disabling USB Storage
- Begin by opening the Notifications Panel. For instructions on how to open the Notifications Panel.
- In the Notifications Panel, select ‘Turn off USB storage’ and then choose ‘Turn Off’.
Safely Removing the Storage Card While the Phone is On If you need to remove the storage card while the phone is on, it’s crucial to unmount the storage card first to avoid corrupting or damaging it. Here’s how:
- Press ‘HOME’, then ‘MENU’, and then select ‘Settings’.
- Scroll down the screen, then select ‘SD card & phone storage’.
- Choose ‘Unmount SD card’.
Formatting the SD Card
- Press ‘HOME’, then ‘MENU’, and then select ‘Settings’.
- Scroll down the screen, then select ‘SD card & phone storage’.
- Choose ‘Unmount SD card’. This will enable the ‘Format SD card’ option.
- Select ‘Format SD card’ > ‘Format SD card’.
Manage multiple calls
Your phone provides a notification when there’s an incoming call, offering the option to either reject or accept it. If you’re already engaged in a call and decide to accept the new one, you have the flexibility to switch between the two callers. Here’s how:
Managing Multiple Calls
- To accept the second call and put the first one on hold, press the ‘CALL’ button. Alternatively, press ‘MENU’ and then select ‘Hold call in progress & answer’.
- To terminate the second call and revert to the first one, press the ‘END CALL/POWER’ button on your phone.
- To disconnect the first call and answer the incoming one, press ‘MENU’, then select ‘End call in progress & answer’.
- To alternate between two calls, press ‘MENU’ and then select ‘Swap calls’.
Setting Up a Conference Call
You can establish a conference call with up to six participants, including yourself. Please note that not all mobile phone networks support conference calling. For more information, contact your wireless service provider. Here are the steps:
- Dial the first conference call participant. For more details, refer to ‘Making Calls’.
- Once connected to the first participant, press ‘MENU’ and then select ‘Add call’.
- Input the phone number of the person you wish to add to the conference call and press the ‘CALL’ button. Alternatively, select the ‘Call log’, ‘Contacts’, or ‘Favorites’ tab and then choose the next conference call participant from the list. The first call will be automatically put on hold.
- Upon connecting to the second conference call participant, press ‘MENU’, then select ‘Merge calls’ to initiate the conference call.
- To include more participants in the conference call, repeat steps 2 and 3. During a conference call, press ‘MENU’ and select ‘Manage conference’ to remove a participant from the conference call or to converse privately with one of the participants.
- To conclude the conference call and disconnect all callers, press the ‘END CALL/POWER’ button.
Using Calendar
The Calendar application on your phone allows you to create and manage events, meetings, and appointments. Depending on your synchronization settings, your phone’s Calendar will stay in sync with your web-based Calendar. Accessing the Calendar
- Press ‘HOME’, then touch the ‘Applications’ tab to open it.
- Select ‘Calendar’.
Creating Events To create an event:
- In any Calendar view, press ‘MENU’ and then touch ‘New event’ to open the ‘Event details’ screen.
- Input the event name using the keyboard.
- Enter the event location and description.
- If you have more than one calendar, choose the Calendar where you want to save the event.
Note: You can create multiple calendars, such as ‘Personal’, ‘Business’, or ‘Family’, using Calendar on the web. Depending on your synchronization settings, these calendars are added to your phone when you synchronize the Calendar. For more information on how to create calendars, visit the Google support page.
- Set the event reminder time in ‘Reminders’, then select whether the event is recurring in ‘Repetition’.
- Once finished, touch ‘Save’.
Tip: To quickly create an event in ‘Day’, ‘Week’, or ‘Month’ view, touch and hold an empty time slot, then touch ‘New event’. A new ‘Event details’ screen appears with the selected time slot and date in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ fields. See also the article on the Nokia 230 Dual Manual as well.
Using Alarm Clock
Your phone can function as an alarm clock, allowing you to set an unlimited number of alarms. Here’s how you can do it:
Accessing the Alarm Clock
- Press ‘HOME’, then touch the ‘Applications’ tab, and finally select ‘Alarm Clock’.
When you open the Alarm Clock for the first time, three alarms are set up by default, ready for you to customize. All three alarms are turned off by default.
Setting an Alarm
- Touch one of the available alarms.
- Touch ‘Time’ to set the alarm time. Adjust the time by touching the ‘+’ or ‘-’ symbols. Touch ‘AM’ to change to ‘PM’ or vice versa, then touch ‘Set’ when finished.
- Touch ‘Ringtone’, then select the alarm ring tone. The ring tone plays when selected. Note: Touch ‘Vibrate’ if you want the phone to also vibrate when the alarm goes off.
- Touch ‘Repeat’ to select the days you want the alarm to sound, then touch ‘OK’. Note: If you do not select any days for the alarm, the word ‘Never’ will show which means that your alarm will only go off once.
- Touch ‘Label’ to set a name for the alarm.
- Press ‘BACK’ to return to the Alarm Clock screen.
Note: If you need to set more than 3 alarms, you can add more alarms while on the Alarm Clock screen by pressing ‘MENU’ and then touching ‘Add alarm’.
You can temporarily disable an alarm by clearing the check box (by touching it) of the alarm on the Alarm Clock screen. Likewise also see the Apple Iphone 3 User Manualon here.
Customizing the Alarm Clock You can personalize the appearance of the clock displayed on the Alarm Clock screen. Here’s how:
- On the Alarm Clock screen, touch the clock with your finger to open the clock selection screen. Available clock displays will appear at the bottom of the screen.
- Slide your finger left or right on top of the clock displays to view them.
- Touch the clock display you prefer.
Note: To hide the clock display, on the Alarm Clock screen, press ‘MENU’, then touch ‘Hide clock’. To change the date and time format displayed in your alarms, refer to “Set the date, time zone, and time” on page 99.
Deleting an Alarm
- On the Alarm Clock screen, touch the alarm you want to delete.
- On the Set alarm screen, press ‘MENU’ and then touch ‘Delete alarm’.
Silencing All Alarms You can set whether alarms sound even when your phone is in Silent mode.
- On the Alarm Clock screen, press ‘MENU’ and then touch ‘Settings’.
- Touch ‘Alarm in silent mode’ to set whether alarms play when the phone is otherwise in silent mode.
- When you are done, press ‘BACK’.
Create and send a multimedia (MMS) message
To begin with, navigate to the Messaging screen and select New message. This action will lead you to the Compose screen. Subsequently, input the mobile phone number or email address of your intended recipients in the To field. As you type, you’ll notice that matching contacts start to populate the screen. You can either select a recipient from this list or continue typing the recipient’s details.
Here’s a tip: If you wish to add a subject line, simply press MENU and select Add subject.
Next, tap on the text box that prompts “Type to compose”, and start crafting your message. It’s important to note that as you approach the 160-character limit, a counter will appear in the top right corner of the text box. This counter indicates the number of characters you can still input before reaching the limit for a single message.
Once your message is ready, press MENU and select Attach. This will open the Attach window, where you can choose from a variety of file attachments:
- Pictures: This option opens the Gallery application. Simply touch a picture on the screen to attach it to your message.
- Capture picture: This option opens the Camera application. You can take a picture and touch Attach to add it to your message. For more details about the Camera application, refer to the section “Using Camera and Camcorder”.
- Videos: This option also opens the Gallery application. Touch a video on the screen to attach it to your message.
- Capture video: This option opens the Camcorder application. Record a video and touch Attach to add it to your message. For more information about the Video application, refer to the section “Using Camera and Camcorder”.
Connecting to the Internet
Upon starting your phone for the first time with the SIM card inserted, it will automatically be configured to use your wireless service provider’s GPRS/3G/EDGE service. Likewise also see the Nokia 130 User Manual on here.
To verify the network connection you are using, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Navigate to Wireless Controls > Mobile networks > Network operators or Access Point Names.
In case you need to add another GPRS/3G/EDGE connection on your phone, you’ll need to obtain the access point name and settings (including username and password if required) from your wireless service provider. Here’s how you can create a new access point:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Go to Wireless Controls > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
- On the APNs screen, press MENU and then touch New APN.
- In the Edit access point screen, enter the APN settings. Touch the APN setting item to edit it.
- Press MENU and then touch Save when you finish setting up the new APN.
Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 300 feet (100 meters). To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a wireless access point or “hotspot”. Please note that the availability and range of the Wi-Fi signal depends on the number, infrastructure, and other objects through which the signal passes.
To turn Wi-Fi on and connect to a wireless network, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings > Wireless controls.
- Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone will scan for available wireless networks.
- Touch Wi-Fi settings. The network names and security settings (Open network or Secured with WEP) of detected Wi-Fi networks are displayed in the Wi-Fi networks section.
- Touch a Wi-Fi network to connect. If you selected an open network, you will be automatically connected to the network. If you selected a network that is secured with WEP, enter the WEP (security) key and then touch Connect.
Using Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology capable of exchanging information between Bluetooth devices over a distance of about eight meters, without the need for a physical connection. There are three modes in which Bluetooth on your phone can operate:
- On: In this mode, Bluetooth is activated, allowing your phone to detect other Bluetooth-enabled devices, but not vice versa.
- Discoverable: In this mode, Bluetooth is activated and your phone can be detected by all other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
- Off: In this mode, Bluetooth is deactivated, preventing you from sending or receiving information via Bluetooth.
Please note that by default, Bluetooth is turned off. If you activate it and then switch off your phone, Bluetooth will also be deactivated. However, when you switch your phone back on, Bluetooth will automatically reactivate. It’s advisable to deactivate Bluetooth when it’s not in use to save battery power, or in places where the use of wireless devices is prohibited, such as on an airplane or in hospitals. To activate Bluetooth and make your phone discoverable, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Wireless controls, then select the Bluetooth checkbox to activate Bluetooth. When activated, the Bluetooth icon will appear in the status bar.
- Touch Bluetooth settings, then select the Discoverable checkbox to make your phone discoverable to other Bluetooth devices within range.
Remember, your phone will be discoverable for up to two minutes.
To change the name of your phone (which identifies your phone in a Bluetooth network), ensure that Bluetooth is activated. On the Wireless controls screen, touch Bluetooth settings > Device name. Enter the new name for your phone in the dialog box, then touch OK.
You can connect your phone to a Bluetooth hands-free headset or a Bluetooth car kit and use these devices to make and/or receive calls. Before you can use a Bluetooth hands-free headset or car kit, you must first pair it with your phone. The phone supports the following Bluetooth profiles: Headset, Handsfree, A2DP, and AVRCP.
To pair and connect a Bluetooth hands-free headset or car kit, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Wireless controls > Bluetooth settings and then select the Bluetooth checkbox. Your phone will begin scanning for Bluetooth devices within range and will display all detected devices in the Bluetooth devices section.
Here are a few tips:
- If you can’t find the device in the list, touch Scan for devices to scan again.
- Ensure that the Bluetooth device you want to pair with is set to discoverable mode. Consult the Bluetooth device’s documentation to learn how to set it to discoverable mode.
Touch the hands-free headset or car kit in the list to start pairing. For some Bluetooth devices, you’ll need to enter a passcode to pair with the Bluetooth device. You can try “0000” as the passcode. If that doesn’t work, consult the Bluetooth device’s documentation.
The pairing and connection status will appear below the hands-free headset or car kit name in the Bluetooth devices list. When the other Bluetooth hands-free headset or car kit is connected to your phone, the Bluetooth connected icon will appear in the status bar. You can now start using the hands-free headset or car kit to make and/or receive phone calls. If you pair with a second headset while connected to the first, the first headset will be disconnected. To switch the connection back to the first headset, you must manually select that headset again in the Bluetooth devices list.
To disconnect a Bluetooth hands-free headset or car kit, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Wireless controls > Bluetooth settings.
- Navigate to the Bluetooth devices section, then touch and hold the connected hands-free headset or car kit.
- Touch Disconnect.
If you want the phone to erase all pairing information with the hands-free headset or car kit, touch Unpair. You will be prompted to enter the passcode again when you connect to that Bluetooth device. Likewise also see the Asha 200 Connectivity (Bluetooth & Cable) on here.
Changing Basic Settings
Your phone is set to automatically use the network-provided date, time zone, and time by default. If you wish to manually adjust these settings, follow the steps below:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Scroll down the screen, then touch Date & time.
- Clear the Automatic check box.
- Touch Set date. On the Change date window, adjust the date, month, and year, then touch Set when finished.
- Touch Set time zone, then select the time zone in the list. Scroll down the list to view more time zones.
- Touch Set time. On the time window, adjust the hour and minute, then touch AM to change to PM or vice versa. Touch Set when finished.
- Select the Use 24-hour format check box to toggle between using a 12-hour or a 24-hour format.
- Touch Select date format then select how you want dates to display on your phone. The selected date format also applies to the date displayed in the Alarm Clock.
For adjusting the screen brightness, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Sound & display, scroll down the screen, then touch Brightness.
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease or to the right to increase the screen brightness.
- Touch OK.
To adjust the time before the screen turns off, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Sound & display.
- Scroll down the screen, then touch Screen timeout.
- Touch the time before the screen turns off.
To prevent the screen orientation from automatically changing, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Sound & display.
- Scroll down the screen, then clear the Orientation check box.
To keep the screen on while charging the phone, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Applications > Development and then select the Stay awake check box.
For changing the ring tone, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Sound & display > Phone ringtone.
- Touch the ring tone you want to use, then touch OK.
To enable touch tones, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Sound & display, then scroll down the screen.
- Select the Audible touch tones and/or Audible selection options.
To choose the notification ring tone, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Sound & display > Notification ringtone.
- Select your preferred notification ring tone in the list and then touch OK.

Phone Services
Your phone has the capability to connect directly to the mobile phone network, allowing you to access and modify the settings of various phone services. These services may include Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, Voicemail, among others. Please contact your wireless service provider to learn about the availability of these services for your phone.
To access and modify the settings of these phone services, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Call settings.

Data roaming allows your phone to connect to your wireless service provider’s partner networks and access data services when you are outside your wireless service provider’s coverage area. To enable data roaming, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Wireless controls > Mobile networks.
- Select the Data roaming option.
Please be aware that accessing data services while roaming may result in significant charges. It is recommended to inquire about the data roaming tariffs with your wireless service provider before enabling data roaming.
You also have the option to change the language of your phone. To do this, follow these steps:
- Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
- Touch Locale & text > Select locale and then select the language you want to use.
