The Asha 501 comes with only 2G band coverage (GSM 900 / 1800 – RM-899850 / 1900 – RM-900) which limits it abilities. It comes with a dual Sim (GSM 900 / 1800 – SIM 1 & SIM 2 – RM-902). The screen still uses the TFT capacitive touchscreen with 256K colors.
The phone runs on the Nokia Asha software platform 1.0, upgradable to v1.4 and comes with 128MB internal memory. The camera is a 3.15 Megapixel camera with 320p@15fps which is very slow and low quality. As stated above this is a basic mobile phone. Being low specs it has excellent standby time being up to 1152 hours and 17 hours of talk time.
Change your ringtone
- First, touch the icon that says “Sounds and vibra.”
- Then, tap on either SIM1 ringtone or SIM2 ringtone.
- Now, pick a ringtone from the list that shows up. It can be one of the default ones or a song you’ve downloaded. The ringtone will play so you can decide if you like it.
- Once you find a ringtone you’re into, just tap on “Set.”

Add a writing language
- If you want to write in another language, you can easily switch between them. In some countries, the languages are already set by default.
- Go to > Writing settings > Add keyboards and select the language you want.
- When you’re writing, you can switch between languages by swiping left or right on the space key.

Connect to a Wi-Fi network

- Make sure Wi-Fi is on, tap “Add new network,” and enter the required information.

Copy content between your phone and computer
To move your photos, videos, music, and other stuff you made (and saved on your memory card) between your phone and computer, follow these steps:
- Link your phone to your computer using a suitable USB cable.
- Touch “Mass storage.”
- On your computer, open a file manager like Windows Explorer and go to your phone. This is where you’ll see the things saved on your memory card.
- Simply drag and drop items back and forth between your phone and computer.

- Make sure your SIM card is in the SIM1 slot.
- Tap on > Phone update.

Copy contacts from your old phone
To move all your contacts to your new phone at once, follow these steps:
- Make sure Bluetooth is on for both your old and new phones, and ensure both phones can be seen by others.
- On your new phone, touch the Bluetooth icon.
- If you don’t have any contacts on your new phone yet, tap “Copy contacts” and then select “Another device.”
- If you already have contacts on your new phone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, tap “Copy contacts,” then choose “Copy from,” and finally, select “Another device.”
- Bring the phones close together. Once they’re connected through Bluetooth, the transfer of contacts will begin.
